Scoliosis

Your spine is made up of 24 bones called vertebrae. Seven of these little bones are in your neck, twelve in your thoracic or mid-back section, and five in your lower back. They stack up one on top of the other to form a straight line when viewed from front to back. However, when the spine curves or twists excessively it is called scoliosis (from the Greek word for “crooked”).

Scoliosis is a common condition seen in the chiropractic office.  Drs. Brian and Jenn analyze each specific case and decide on the best treatment approach; whether the goal is to correct the curvature or to manage the condition so it does not worsen.

These abnormal curves develop most commonly in adolescent girls during growth spurts. For these reasons, we highly recommend screening for girls starting at age 5 or 6 and continuing throughout growth phases.
